With electricity prices rising and the WA Government now offering up to $5,000 in battery rebates, there’s never been a better time for Western Australians to go solar. Whether you’re just starting your research or thinking about adding a battery, here’s everything you need to know in 2025.
1. WA electricity prices are still on the rise
Power costs continue to climb in WA, and households are feeling it. A solar system helps you take control of your energy bills by using the sun to power your home during the day. Even better? With the right setup, you can store that solar energy to use at night and slash your reliance on the grid.
2. The new WA battery rebate is a game-changer
In 2025, the WA Government introduced a battery rebate of up to $5,000 to help homeowners install solar battery systems. This means you can store your excess solar energy instead of sending it back to the grid — and use it in the evenings when electricity rates are higher. It’s a huge step toward energy independence, and we’ll help you apply for it.
UPDATE: The WA Government has recently announced that they’ve changed their battery rebate of $5,000 to be inclusive of the federal rebate. To be eligable for this rebate, you must also opt-in to the Virtual Power Plant scheme (VPP) where your local energy company may drain your battery to feed back into the grid.
For this reason, if you can still afford a solar battery, we’re advising clients not to sign up to this scheme as the whole point of the battery is for you to use it for your own home during peak hours – not to sell it back to the grid.
Bonus: If you already have solar, you may still be eligible to add a battery and claim the rebate.
3. Solar payback is faster than ever
Thanks to falling system prices, government incentives, and high electricity rates, the average WA solar system can pay for itself in 4 to 6 years. With a battery, your upfront cost is a little higher — but the long-term savings (plus blackout protection) can make it well worth the investment.
4. Solar adds real value to your property
Home buyers in WA love energy-efficient homes. A well-installed solar system with a battery not only cuts your bills but also increases your home’s appeal and potential resale value.
5. It’s easy to get started with Solar You
At Solar You, we’re locals — and we know exactly how to design systems that work for WA homes, WA weather, and WA energy rules. Whether you’re after a simple system or a full solar + battery setup, we’ll guide you through the whole process with no pushy sales talk.
So, is solar still worth it in WA in 2025?
Absolutely. With government support, fast payback, and rising power costs, going solar now makes more sense than ever — especially if you want to future-proof your home with battery storage.
